Dorset Echo This Week

As the summer season comes to an end the WPCA is planning the final cruise of the year with a trip to Poole in September. Cruising Officer, Chris Reid, has organized a fun filled few days including a trip to Brownsea Island and an evening meal in a local restaurant. Any members not already signed up to join the cruise should contact Chris as soon as possible.

Meanwhile Chris and Alison Bell in La Sociere continue their busy cruising season with a sail to Teignmouth, a challenging port for yachts to enter with dangerous sand bars at the entrance and Chris said “I am pleased my calculations were correct for a secondary port, as parts are only 0.8 meters above Chart Datum”. They shared Lyme Bay with some fast noisy power boats racing from Cowes to Torquay and back. After Teignmouth they moved on to Dartmouth, a favourite stop off for them, before they return to Portland.
